Area of support
Social participation
Being part of things, having a say, shaping your life: social participation means living your everyday life the way you want to – at home, when out and about and in the community.
What does social participation mean?
Benefits for social participation (Soziale Teilhabe) are intended to enable or facilitate your equal participation in community life. This includes living as independently and self-determined as possible – in your own home and in your surroundings.
The legal basis is mainly §§ 76 ff. SGB IX and – within integration assistance – §§ 113 ff. SGB IX.
Assistance as a central building block
A central building block of social participation is assistance under § 78 SGB IX. It supports you in shaping your everyday life independently and in a self-determined way – for example with running your household, shaping social relationships, planning your personal life, taking part in community and cultural life and organising your free time.
Mothers and fathers with disabilities can also receive assistance with looking after and caring for their children – so-called parenting assistance (Elternassistenz).
How we can support you

Mobility is part of it
If you want to take part in community life, you also need to be able to get there. That is why benefits for mobility are also part of social participation – for example transport services or vehicle assistance (§ 83 SGB IX).
Assistance means: you decide
Assistance does not replace your decisions. You decide what is important in your everyday life – we help you make it happen.
If you wish, you can also receive social participation benefits as a Personal Budget. You then decide for yourself who supports you, when, where and how. We explain your options and support you with the application.
comitante – because participation begins in everyday life: where you live, work and meet people.
